This year’s Brigada Eswela officially began last May 24, 2011 with a kick-off program at the Plaza Mayor de Balanga.  After the greetings and encouraging words by Mayor Joet S. Garcia and Vice-Mayor Noel L. Valdecanas, the DepEd family of Balanga, comprising of the school heads and teachers had a foot-parade from the Plaza Mayor to Ibayo, Tenejero, Capitol Drive, San Jose then back to the City plaza to inform and invite the community to participate in their school’s clean-up program before classes open on June 6, 2011.

After the parade, the teachers of OLLES proceeded to their respective school and organized a Brigada Eskwela in its barangay, Munting Batangas.  OLLES also organized a parade from Munting Batangas plaza to the school. The parade composed of the Staff members of OLLES, headed by the school principal, Mrs. Liza G. Austria, together with the Barangay Council, PTCA Officers, parents and pupils from School Pupil Government.  A short program in the school’s covered tent followed the parade.

For one week, the School Brigada Eswela participants helped in cleaning the rooms and school ground, re-structuring of the classrooms, repainting of the roof and gardening

Brigada Eskwela culminating activity was also conducted in Agaw Lupa, San Roque.  This activity aimed to reach the school’s clientele in Munting Batangas’ neigboring barangay.   Conditions of the pupils there were also identified so that proper assistance would be handed.

Once again the spirit of Bayanihan was shown in this year’s Brigada Eskwela.
