Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School launched Saturday Reading Intervention Program for Grade I pupils with reading difficulties, last January 23, 2010. Through the initiative of Mrs. Lisa G. Austria, principal, with the help of Grade I teachers, Mrs. Elenita Jaro and Mrs. Olivia Agron, Grade I-B pupils are required to attend seven whole-day Saturday classes to improve not only their speed in reading but to achieve comprehension as well.

Moreover, students of Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) supported this project as part of their NSTP Class headed by Mr. Wilson Atuan. They provided snacks for the 49 Grade I pupils enrolled in the program.

This reading program started last January 23 to March 6, 2010 for seven consecutive Saturdays.

The success of this remediation project addressed the problem of learners with reading difficulties and also lessens the burden of teachers in the execution of every lesson taught.
